On Monday, 27 November, our daughter taken to the Humphreys ER for DKA, a glucose reading of HIGH!
As we entered the door, approaching the Triage Reception desk, Nurse Casey took one glance at our daughter, directed his colleagues of medical assistants to take her start back to a bed NOW!
This is excellent call. Casey’s observation and paying attention to detail of My daughter’s visual symptoms (heavy breathing, eye dilation, and talking of unusual things) saved her life!!
Mrs. Ruiz thanks for keeping me calm with sharing small gestures of laughter. As I tried to reassure my daughter (Mykel) that I was not her sissy, but her mom!
John played a virtual part assisting with prepping of medical equipment and meds needed as the three of them worked effortlessly administering medical aid to our daughter.
CPT Arellano thanks for making the judgement call sending us to an off post MOUMOA establishment during such a critical moment with two scared emotional parents! For you see I lost my father and God some to the very same illness known as Juvenile Diabetes and this illness scares the hell out of us! Especially with our 21 year old baby girl!
We had challenges communicating by used our translation application to communicate! I pray that Brian Allgood Hospital (ICU Ward) gets the manpower or staff needed for moments like this. It was a nightmare not having a Korean American Liaison to assist! Nevertheless, GOD guided us throughout the process of this critical period.
THANKS FOR YOUR KIND PATIENCE AND CARING FOR OUR FAMILY MEMBER!
FOREVER GRATEFUL
